Katrin Weller is Professor for Research Data Management for the Social Sciences at HHU Düsseldorf and Scientific Director of the Data Services for the Social Sciences department at GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. 

She has a background in computational social science and was head of the Digital Society Observatory team in the Computational Social Science department at GESIS. From 2021-2023, she co-led the Research Data and Methods team at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum. She was a Digital Studies Fellow at the Library of Congress (USA).

Prof. Weller conducts research on and new types of research data for the social sciences, especially those from online platforms. She studies dimensions of data quality, reusability, and data practices around data from different social media platforms.
